It has been said that the best way to predict the future is to invent it. Innovation
is critical and being located in upstate New York is a strategic advantage –
when you’re able to tap into resources in your backyard. One of the premier
resources in the materials field is CCMR, the Cornell Center for Materials Research.
CCMR, the largest National Science Foundation (NSF) funded center of its kind
in the country, spans across 10 departments on campus coordinating shared test
labs and services. The Center puts resources in companies’ hands that aren’t
otherwise available.
CCMR’s $14 million of state-of-the-art test equipment is available for
you to use on your own or in conjunction with facilities managers. Companies use
the facility to assess materials issues in new product development, troubleshoot
field and production failures and for many other characterization activities.
The CCMR Industrial Outreach program invites you to explore how these complex
instruments can provide horsepower to your development and analysis efforts.
Each sophisticated piece of equipment (see chart) is maintained and enhanced
by expert staff who are available to assist and train your people to best determine
how to ask the right questions, develop the test methods and interpret the results.
Working with CCMR enables our experts to share an understanding of an instrument’s
capabilities in relation to your products with your technical staff. We can then
train your staff to use the equipment. In addition, exposure to the University
in this fashion will also help you build a network of contacts that may be conducting
the research for your next generation of products – right now.

about the center can be found at www.ccmr.cornell.edu.
