TWI Trainers Certified
TDO staff members Cindy Oehmigen and Glen Chwala were certified
as Training Within Industry (TWI) Job Relations and Job Instructions
Trainers in June. The two attended a week long extensive training
course for each program where they were immersed in the training
regimens. Both delivered these programs locally this summer.
Job Relations is a supervisor development program laying the
foundation for building positive employee relations, increasing
cooperation and motivation, and effectively resolving conflicts.
Job Instruction training provides supervisors with the most
effective methods to train employees to do new jobs more quickly,
safely and correctly, decreasing training time and increasing
quality.
Record Impacts Generated by TDO Efforts
According to an independent survey conducted by the Department of Commerce,
the Central New York Technology Development Organization (TDO) generated over
$53 million of economic impact on a federal and state investment of $680,000.
Impact is reported in the form of jobs retained and created, sales retained and
created, investments, and cost savings. Overall the return on investment is $79
for every dollar invested. TDO is the regional center of the Manufacturing Extension
Partnership (MEP); a program sponsored by the National Institute of Standards
and Technology and coordinated in New York by the Office of Science Technology
and Academic Research (NYSTAR).
