Syracuse Design Group was founded in 1996. There are three full-time professionals and anywhere from 1 to 5 additional collaborators on any given project - depending on skills and expertise required. Because of this, we are able to tailor our team efficiently and productively to the task at hand.

Frank Smith, Principal

After a 20-year career in the hospitality industry as a hotel operations manager, career change 13 years ago allowed me to pursue my passion for design, computers and entrepreneurship. Management skills enable me to ensure client satisfaction and service are top priority. Extensive satisfied client list attest to company’s success.

Todd Kimball, Developer

Since 1990, Todd has developed many high-quality Desktop and Web-based applications for a diverse group of organizations.  He began his career developing desktop data collection applications at Philips Broadband Networks, Inc. and served as the lead developer for integration of this data into the engineering product management system. Before leaving Philips he developed a reporting system utilizing this data for product reliability studies.  After leaving Philips Todd earned a BSc in Computer Science from Syracuse University and has since been active as an independent consultant and developer working primarily with Syracuse Design Group.  Todd’s primary responsibilities include application design and development with a focus on extendability, end-user experience and application life cycle application management.  He manages many aspects of Web Application development including hosting infrastructure, database design and content management systems development.

Andy Buchanan, Web Designer & CSS Architect

Andy is primarily responsible for developing hand-coded table-less CSS layouts.  Prior to joining Syracuse Design Group in 2005, he was lead designer and developer for a small advertising firm in Poughkeepsie, NY for over 8 years.  He worked directly with clients to create their graphic identity, generate print design campaigns, and to develop an online presence.  This valuable experience in design enables Andy to expertly work with both designers and programmers to develop CSS layouts that are pixel-precise to the original design.

Andy received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Marist College with a concentration in Multimedia Communications.  He has worked extensively with XHTML, CSS, Flash, JavaScript, JQuery and Mootools and has been trained in the industry-standard programs of Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Flash, Contribute and Illustrator.
